What should the church want most of all? Passing Spiritual gifts like tongues that were a foundational gift intended for the period during which the canon was being built up or things that endure forever? Scripture tells us that we shouldn't be satisfied with imperfect things, but be ever looking to have that which is perfect and complete. This is why Scripture, for instance, is superior to tongues in the same way that walking is superior to crawling. For the church to go back to tongues in the modern age, is to forsake the perfect and return to the imperfect, to go from walking, to crawling.
Scripture also tells us that what we should desire to have most of all is that which endures forever - LOVE.
