In Acts 10 we see the Gospel comes to Cornelius and his household and they believe and are baptized.
The Four things I want you to see in Acts Chapter 10 is that:
Cornelius was a Regimental Man.
Secondly Cornelius was: A Religious Man.
Thirdly: Cornelius was a Receptive Man.
Fourthly: Cornelius was a Regenerated Man.
Amidst all, the Pagan influences of Rome here is a man, high up in the Ranks of the Roman Army who is a God Seeker.
Cornelius gives generously to others, he also prays and he has an outstanding reputation amongst the Jews. yet he does not know Jesus.
You know, all over the world and I believe all around Australia there are people that are God seekers, their religious but their not right with God. There are people that have good reputation, they pray, they are charitable but they are without Christ.
When Paul wrote to the Romans, he wrote of His own people, the Jews.
Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Religion does not make you right with God.
Reputation does not make you right with God.
Righteous acts of generosity do not make you right with God…You've got to have Redemption… Redemption that's only available through faith in Jesus Christ.
In Ephesians 1 Paul writes about our redeemer the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; |
