The Holy Spirit took special care to quote the seven sayings Christ made from the cross.
This past Wednesday, Pastor Kent W. Clark kicked off a series on the seven sayings Jesus made when He was nailed to the cross. As we near Easter, it's important to remember the significance of what Christ did on the cross; what Christ did for His people!
1. Father, forgive them for they know now what they do. 2. Today, thou shalt be with me in paradise. 3. Woman, behold thy son, and son, behold thy mother. 4. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 5. I thirst. 6. It is finished, it is accomplished. 7. Into thy hands, I commend my spirit.
These tremendous, awesome words from our Lord; think about who said them. Think of where they were said. Think of His condition when He said them, in His agony and suffering. And reflect upon the accomplishment of our redemption!
