Oh man have we come a long way since the Fall and the pronouncement of the curses to the man, to the woman and to the serpent. Those pronouncements have certainly proved true, and even as God promised, Christ has come to crush the head of the serpent even as Paul has said, death has died in the death of Christ. Yet despite Christ's victory, even those who have been redeemed struggle against indwelling sin, in the way that God said we would. Namely, men and women, made to compliment and help one another in the Creation mandate look not to God's directives, but to their sinful, innate reflexes and desires. It is here in Paul's letter to Timothy that he turns from the matter of prayer, to that of peace within the church which being an institution filled by sinners, namely male sinners and females sinners need to be taught how to address those two groups in their midst. How has the Fall affected us and how are we to conduct ourselves in a way that brings honor and glory to the Lord and sanctifies the body? Let's see.
