The implications of Einstein’s theories rocked the very foundations of astrophysics. Oddly (some would say inevitably) the idea of relativity began to be spoken of in decidedly non-scientific contexts. But how do we apply relativity to abstract philosophical concepts, such as the value of human life?
For example, I value the Hebrews as a historically unique people called out by God as a separate nation, designated by God as His own people. Yet Adolf Hitler did not see it that way, hence the Holocaust. Is that too merely a matter of relativity? And what about the unborn baby in the womb? As you can see, the slope is getting more slippery, and we need a firm place to stand.
