'Jesus loves me, this I know; for the Bible tells me so'. And that is the ultimate reason why we go on pilgrimage to heaven. We may also have personal experience of it, as Mary Magdalene had when Christ delivered her. That produces a deep attachment to Christ on our part, even in death. Sometimes the evidence for that attachment is the sense of loss we have when we lose sight of Christ. We find an illustration of that in the Song of Solomon when the girl asks where her beloved is? She is told to follow the path his flock has taken, then she will find him. We should follow where Christ's people have been as their experience is recorded in the Bible - and we may catch a glimpse of him. We should also be where they are now - together in worship; he is where two or three meet in his name. When we find him he will speak to us in the Bible - warnings about error, encouraging backsliders to return, and comforting regarding the ills of life. He may even give us a glimpse of the Celestial City, what he has prepared for those who love him. So - 'Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord'.
