The human heart is prone to all types of fear. Since the fall, mankind has had much to fear, both in this life and especially in the life hereafter. Anticipating this, God calls His people to be courageous with the words, “Fear not”. Faith and fear are opposed to one another. One cannot truly trust God and be constantly plagued with fearful thoughts. Throughout the Scriptures God comforts His people with those glorious words of love and refuge – “Fear not”. In the face of the enemies, Nehemiah acts in faith and courage in order to accomplish his task that Providence had given him.
