We shall continue our study of the apostle Paul's letter to the churches in Galatia, beginning in chapter 2, verses 11-21. Last week's message was from Galatians 2:11-14, where we found Paul confronting Peter about his hypocrisy; the shunning of the Gentiles in the Galatian church when the Judaizers from Jerusalem came to visit. We learned that both Peter and Barnabas fell into the trap of hypocrisy when the converted Jews showed up, because they feared what those men would think of them if they associated and ate with the Gentile Christians who were uncircumcised. This issue had already been settled at the conclusion of the Council at Jerusalem, when James, Peter, and John agreed that the Gentiles did not have to follow the Law, and they gave their right hand of fellowship to Paul and the gospel he preached, or so it seemed.
