The people hailed Jesus as their King when He entered Jerusalem for the feat of the Passover. It was a glorious welcome. But they expected Him to take the throne and deliver them from Roman oppression. Disappointed with His actions, the crowds were shouting ”crucify Him” less than a week later. Jesus was indeed coming to Jerusalem to be glorified. But the hour of His glorification was His suffering, death, burial and resurrection. Jesus had come, not to take life but to give it by laying down His life and taking it up again.
