Former "Oneness" Pentecostal & valedictorian of one of their Bible colleges Mark McNeil to discuss a book entitled, "The Oneness of God," written by David K. Bernard, which has been published by the Word Aflame Press, the main "Oneness" Pentecostal publishing house. The book seeks to prove the "Oneness" theory that the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit are actually only titles, roles, manifestations, designations, etc. for the one God. In other words, by Trnitarian standards, the book completely denies the reality of the Son of God and the Holy Spirit as distinct "persons" as found in the Athanasian Creed. To Mr. Bernard, these are only titles or roles. Instead of believing "these three are one," Bernard believes "this one is three roles." Bernard believes God has three "faces" or "masks" that God wears depending on circumstances, much like someone who would attend a costume party. Thus God has the "mask" of Jesus dying on the cross talking to Himself wearing another "mask" as the Father while also wearing a third "mask" when convenient as the Holy Spirit Who "whatsoever He shall hear, that He shall speak" (John 16:13). Deniers of the Biblical doctrine of the Trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19) are everywhere, whether they be Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, atheists, "Oneness" Pentecostals, Hundus, or whatever. This hatred of Biblical truth runs deep. "The man who rejects it would not believe though one should rise from the dead (Luke 16:31). There are difficulties, no doubt; concerning God, on all subjects of His testimony, designedly giving an opportunity for the wickedness of the human heart to manifest its hatred of truth. Were it not for this. |
