We are spending three visits to the final 16 verses of the Sermon on the Mount, which by modern terminology could be the Altar Call. It contains only two commands and a collection of powerful word pictures to illustrate what Jesus wants you to do.
We saw last time the beginning of the altar call in the Sermon on the Mount: Choose your way; name your gate. Your responses mean the difference between heaven and hell. The remainder of this passage is addressed to those who have chosen the narrow gate and narrow way. It contains warnings and instructions to you as a believer concerning your progress and dangers along the way to eternal life.
Jesus continues teaching by anthesis. There are three parts to the remaining verses: True and False Prophets (15-20), True and False Professors (21-23), and True and False Hearers (24-29).
We'll see the first one today, The theme is simple: Beware of Wolves.
Matthew 7:15: Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.
