Pilate attempted a position of neutrality re. Christ: 'I wish to remain neutral on the Jesus question. I do not condemn him, nor do I affirm he is the Son of God. I wash my hands of the matter. I don't wish to be seen as a party to his death.' Many today are attempting to do what Pilate attempted, assume a position of neutrality concerning Christ. 'I don't think anyone can know for sure who Jesus was---the truth about him. For that matter---what is truth? Is there really one objective source of truth, or is truth, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder? Jesus may be the savior, but I am not competent to decide that question. If some believe him to be the savior, that is their right. I will not seek to subvert their faith, and I would like them to extend the same courtesy to me. If there is a God, and he condemns me for being undecided, then so be it. But I cannot conceive of a God who would condemn a man for following the dictates of his own conscience.' This message seeks to show that it is not possible to maintain a position of neutrality in reference to Christ, because: 1. It is a life or death issue, so NOT to decide is TO decide. 2. Neutrality is unacceptable to God. 3. Neutrality is foolhardy, because Christ may return at any time, and because we may die at any time. 4. Neutrality is indefensible because Jesus was clear in his claims. This gospel message seems to have the anointing of God's Spirit upon it. One member called it the best he has ever heard.
