Aim: To fully live in the resurrected Christ by faith—as God's redeemed church.
Doctrine: The true church experiences all provisional resurrection through Jesus' triumph over the grave. In the wake of the raising of our souls, many gracious blessings attend us, all of which will be culminated in the raising of our bodies (on the last day).
Exegesis: Some this-life benefits of our being raised up with Christ: real Christians are often rescued from mortal danger (vv. 23-24), true believers are sometimes treated fairly (by authorities) (vv. 25-30), and saved souls are granted opportunities (to further their witness about Jesus) (vv. 31-35).
Further application: Why the historical fact of Easter is an all-encompassing grace for the true church: because Jesus' victory over the grave has already crushed all our foes, and the last one to fall is death.
Key verse: v. 27 ''This man [Paul] was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them when I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman citizen.''
