When a person becomes a Christian are they saved by God for all eternity at that moment of being "born again (John 3:3-8) or must they be careful to do enough good works throughout their life & not fall into apostasy besides in order to achieve eternal salvation at death? Opposing Rob Zins is Dan Corner. Mr Corner is director of "Evangelical Outreach" located in Washington, Pennsylvania & is the author of several books including, "The Believer's Conditional Security" & "The Myth of Eternal Security." Mr. Corner denies that the Christian believer has any eternal security at all & thus is in constant danger of the fires of hell depending on what the Christian does.
Perseverance of the saints, as well as the corollary—though distinct—doctrine known as "Once Saved, Always Saved", is a Calvinist teaching that once persons are truly saved they can never lose their salvation. Sometimes this position is held in conjunction with Reformed Christian confessions of faith in traditional Calvinist doctrine which argues that although individuals are free and responsible.
