The spiritual enemies with which we are engaged as Christians are three in number, we fight against the world, the flesh, and the devil. These three enemies are allied with one another. The world is the fallen world system in which we live-- its ideas, values, and practices that are in opposition to the will of God. The flesh is the sin principle that resides in every Christian; it is the desire to commit sin, even as it is in conflict with the desire that God gave us in our new birth to live for God and please Him. The devil is the malevolent spirit who is opposed to God and His people, who leads a great evil force of fallen angels in his control of the fallen world and in his opposition to the kingdom of God and its citizens. Today we begin to address what the Holy Scriptures teach us concerning the devil.
