In light of the ministry of Christ as our High Priest, the writer of Hebrews contrasts the earthly tabernacle and the heavenly tabernacle. The temporary earthly tabernacle had external ordinances and continual sacrifices. However, these sacrifices and ceremonies could not offer full atonement or the removal of guilt for sin. It was symbolic, literally a parable, pointing to Christ as the true and only Way to gain access to the Father. The heavenly sanctuary reveals for us an eternal redemption and an eternal inheritance secured by the power of the shed blood of Christ. Through His blood we have access to God, the forgiveness of sins, the removal of guilt, and the blessedness of a clear conscience before God!
