SERMON INFO
We often fail in the protection and rescue of our little ones, but God never fails to save His people!

An incident of a poor woman who watched helplessly as her beloved cats were taken away from her yields an insight into the state of fallen man: when danger came, her beloved animals never ran to her for protection.

It is a good thing they didn't, because she was powerless to save them from the wicked persons who drew them down toward death.

But how like those cats we are! We are at times oblivious to our wretched state. At other times, we run in panic; at others, we are easily trapped by evil.

But we will never seek after Christ in our fallen condition. We are dead and blind and deaf to the Gospel.

In Isaiah, God chastises Israel when He proclaims to them that they don't know Him as well as their farm animals know them! Jesus lamented "You will not come to me, that you might have life!"

The Gospels describe those who come to Christ as babes in arms. The rich young ruler, on the other hand, would never come to Christ for salvation, because he trusted in his own goodness and strength and wealth.

But it takes divine revelation, a quickening, regeneration, rebirth, and healing of blind eyes for a person to perceive the Gospel and flee to the Savior. Indeed, Jesus said nobody comes to Him unless the Father draws him.

Only when we realize how helpless and powerless we are, can we come to Christ. Paul said that Christ died for us when we were without strength.

The Lord's Table illustrates our desperate condition, for it shows us we needed more than the mere power of God-we needed a blood atonement for our sins. But praise God, Jesus died to save us!
