Este mensaje es la segunda parte del tema “La Roca de la Obediencia” que trata sobre la obediencia a la palabra de Cristo como “la roca” de una vida cristiana prospera y estable. La obediencia es una característica natural y esencial del verdadero cristianismo.
Un cristiano bíblico sigue los tres pasos que el Señor describe en Lc. 6.47: venir a El, oír su palabra y obedecer su palabra. Venir, oír y hacer son tres pasos indispensables. Solamente venir a Cristo usando la etiqueta de cristiano produce un cristianismo cultural, con apariencia social pero sin vida espiritual, Venir a Cristo y oír su palabra sin hacerla produce un cristianismo hipócrita e inútil, de oidores olvidadizos con un espirita farisaico. La única garantía para una vida sólida, fructífera de verdadera comunión espiritual con Dios es venir a Cristo, oír su palabra y obedecerla.
El caso del que avanza en estos tres pasos está ilustrado en la parábola del hombre que se propuso edificar su casa, cavó hondo y edificó sobre la roca; el caso del que sólo se queda en el segundo se ilustra con el hombre que se propuso edificar y edificó superficialmente sobre la tierra. La diferencia se manifiesta el día de la prueba cuando el río da con ímpetu: una casa permanece y la otra se desploma. Si eso sucede en las pruebas terrenales, ¿Qué sucederá ante la prueba suprema del juicio final?
