The Monster of Depression. Ps. 42:1-11; 43:1-5 Spiritual depression is nothing new. In fact, it is a recurrent theme throughout Scripture. Christians are not immune to depression. At the top of the list of causes of depression is a spiritual enemy who wants to take the wind out of God's kids' sails and make us feel helpless. Living in a world that is hostile to the gospel doesn't make it any easier. Bipolar Disorders are hand in hand with depression. Be grateful that God is lovingly drawing you away from every distraction so that you can see him." Persecution and intolerance to the gospel message by others can make the Christian feel isolated and alone, in addition to the fact that many Christians feel guilty because they think spiritual people should never feel depressed. These folks need to read the book of Psalms or the story of Job. We all face spiritual monsters. These monsters seek to devour our faith, pulling us away from the victory we have in Christ. Each week, this series highlights a different "monster" Christians must battle as they seek to live faithful lives of obedience to God—pride, fear, lust, and inaction. Christ is the true monster-slayer, offering us freedom through His death and resurrection. We all have some monsters in our Midst. Things like anger can be a huge barrier for people in and out of your church and family members. There are monsters that lurk just below the surface waiting to destroy us. Guilt, anger, jealousy, and greed can destroy our lives and those around us. The Cure God has a for Depression is in Psalm 43:1-5. We can Tame the monsters in our life with the HELP OF THE LORD and GOD'S ANTIDEPRESSANTS and the HOLY SPIRIT.
