In the New Testament, "crowns" are often used to refer to our eternal rewards that in heaven become the offerings the saints lay down before the throne of God as an act of worship. In this passage, James mentiones one of the 4 crowns defined in the New Testament -- the crown of life. That crown is related to our response to trials and testings. There are 3 essential requirements for us to past the tests of our trials. We must ask for wisdom with unwavering faith (the subject of the preceding message). Then we must maintain steadfast hope on our eternal assets and position with Christ. Finally, we need to love God and others so much that we are willing to endure trials for His glory and for a testimony to others.Pastor Robert Rohlin is the executive pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas, a family-integrated church in the Baptist Missionary Association.
