'What do I want to do when I grow up? What am I destined to be?' Those questions have been on my mind from early childhood and continue to the present. Even though I enjoy my work as pastor, I feel at times as if there is more to life that I am destined to do. The writer to the Hebrews reveals the source of my discontent. For as believers in Jesus Christ, we have been destined to reign over creation and over the world. Our rule over creation was God's design from the beginning. But because of man's sin, we lost control over this world. Satan has usurped dominion over the created world. But Jesus Christ restores what Adam lost. He regains dominion over the earth! Today, he reigns in heaven over the heavenly kingdom. But in the "world to come", He will reign here on earth over creation and the kingdoms of this world. And we will reign with Him. That is our destiny! We are destined to reign! In the meantime, we live by keeping our eyes on Jesus! Trusting Him in life.
