In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul has been addressing attacks on, questions concerning, and doubts about the resurrection of the dead. He began by affirming that Christ himself rose from the dead, and summarized the many proofs of Jesus’ resurrection.
From this Paul goes on to remind the Christians at Corinth of the vital implications of the resurrection. It is no exaggeration to say that if the dead do not rise then the Christian faith is in vain.
So now, in verses 29-49, Paul tells the Christians in Corinth that, because one day every person will awake to the resurrection, they ought to be waking up to the reality of the resurrection now by faith!
