Not getting what you want, namely, freedom from Rome and a cleansing of the Roman soldiers garrison turns a person's heart against you quickly! A year earlier, Jesus refused to be made king (John 6:15). Now, he gets on the colt in fulfillment of Zechariah's prophecy. Why? What has changed? This passage gives us 3 reasons for Jesus' willingness to be declared king.
