(Numbers 12:3) Moses was a meek man yet accomplished so much among such self assertive, rebellious people. He had to go to Pharaoh – that great king who said “Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice?” he certainly found out who Jehovah was and how great His power was, his wizards and magicians were forced to acknowledge “This is the finger of God” and his kingdom was laid waste and his army destroyed in the sea. The Israelites had witnessed all of this and yet the whole generation, with one or two exceptions, turned out to be an ungrateful and unbelieving people and their carcases fell in the wilderness and they were not allowed to go into the Promised Land. Here was this man Moses, charged with leading them and he had to put up with all of these provocations from them. It is amazing that we read that he was very meek above all men that were upon face of the earth. Meekness is not weakness as we see in live of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. What a lovely life He lived in the midst of a wicked generation and we must seek to be like Him in our dealings with others.
