The plan was to continue our study in chapter 8 of John's gospel, but there are only two verses, verse 31 and 32, that I will read, since it has so much to do with the Lord's Supper and remember why Christ had to die and its effect on all who believe in Jesus; who He is and what He accomplished for us.
John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; Vs. 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
When we come to the point of faith in Jesus Christ; who He is and what He accomplished for us, on our behalf by His death on the cross, and we commit our lives to Him, we are set free from slavery to sin, free from God's condemnation and eternal punishment, free to serve God and His Christ in any manner He leads us to do.
Therefore, we will spend most of our time this morning on learning more about the Lord's Supper and why we partake of it.
