God is My Salvation - Message 71 - Sickness and Sin - Isaiah 53:4; Matt. 8:1-17. Jesus, as the Suffering Servant, lifted the burden of sin off of us and shouldered it Himself on the cross. Matthew applies Isa. 53:4 to Jesus' ministry of healing the sick giving specific examples of a leper, a Gentile, and a woman. Each of these points to the reality that behind all sickness is sin and living in a fallen world. The hope we have in light of sickness and sin is that Jesus dealt with the whole scope of our falleness and the curse when He offered Himself a sacrifice for sin, defeating death in the process.
