In my years of pastoring (now close to 40) I have personally witnessed a few cases where demon control was evident. In talking with other pastors, they too have had the same experiences with demonic forces in Christians. Bu the test for all doctrine is not experience, but rather Scripture. What does the Bible say about a believer and demonic possession? Is it biblically possible for a genuine believer to be demon possessed? In this sermon, we look at three case studies from Scripture: Saul, the first king of Israel; the doubled-up woman of Luke 13; and Ananias and Sapphira of Acts 5. And two questions are asked of each: 1) Were they genuine believers? 2) Was the demon's work internal or external? The end of the sermon answers three objections to possible demonic invasion. 1) How can the Spirit of God and a demon occupy the same person spatially? 2) How can the Spirit of God and a demon live in the same person relationally? And 3) How can someone who belongs to Jesus Christ be possessed by a demon? The answer to these questions forms the foundation for two additional questions that will be explored in subsequent sermons. 1) How do we open the door for demonic invasion? And 2) If we discover that we have or some we love have a home intruder present, what can we do?
