Being justified by what someone else has done is not natural for us. We all like to be 'right' and not need any fixing up! So being justified by grace, and through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ is an awkward truth. Even the Apostle Peter found it to be so and needed some correction. Christ gave himself up 'for me', says Paul. He gave himself to deliver me from perishing with this present world. Now, by faith, I am united with him; that is, I died too. Christ lives in me; that is, my life is the outworking of his righteousness, not mine. This is righteousness indeed, a righteousness in which, like Christ, our joy is not that we are right but that God has got it right. This really is salvation!
