There are few characters described in Scripture who were as honorable and as admirable as Joseph, and there are few stories as exciting and instructive as the story of Joseph's mistreatment and ultimate exaltation. In this, the first message in a series, we see Joseph loved and hated. We learn much here about envy, hatred, the callousness of the human heart and the consequences of sin. And we see that Joseph pictures for us one who would come who would also be well-beloved of His father, rejected by His own, hated and envied by those He loved, who plotted to have Him killed, and who was sold for the price of a slave. Joseph was treated this way, in the plan and providence of God, for the saving of many lives from famine. Jesus was treated this way, in the plan and providence of God, to save many souls from hell.
