For I am Tormented in This Flame Episode 1 in a series on the doctrine of Hell. Our Text is Luke 16:19-31. The rich man and Lazarus whom many consider not to be a parable but it is in parable form. This story was for the benefit of the Pharisees who had just derided Jesus after he gave a previous lesson on, "you cannot serve God and Mammon". The Pharisees who were lovers of money and were rich, thought God despised this poor beggar Lazarus who would be considered unclean. They are taught to the contrary. Our focus is the situation of the rich man as he suffers in the torment part of Hades. We look at his cognitive, physical, and spiritual condition. I conclude with a warning and short Gospel account.
