In Phil 3:12-14, the Apostle Paul doubles down on his admission that he has not yet reached his goal and is not yet perfect. Perfectionism in this life is ruled out as we will only be made perfect when we are raised incorruptible. The goal is the full embrace of Christ and Paul is not passive as he awaits the bodily resurrection when we will be glorified in His likeness. Paul likens this life as a race with Christ as the finish line. He forgets the past that he might not be distracted from running the race as he presses on, keeping the goal of Christ in full view.
