i) The Investigation He Made He heard Paul concerning the faith in Christ- oh that there were more who would ask concerning these matters
ii) The Communication He Heard
a) A Rational One- Paul set out these things in a very clear and definite way
b) A Faithful One- Felix had the power to release Paul, but Paul did not water down his message
RIGHTEOUSNESS- Felix, by all accounts, was a cruel man TEMPERANCE- (self control)-Felix was living in an adulterous relationship JUDGEMENT TO COME- the consequence of such a life lived without Christ
Has the Power of God's Word made you tremble ? Don`t be ashamed
2) The OUTCOME Of His Trembling
i) The ABRUPT DISMISSAL Of Paul "Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. ..." (v25)
He wanted to wait for circumstances which were more to his liking - but he could die at any time - he may not always have the same feelings - God may not hear him at a later time - if you have concern, settle it NOW !
ii) The AWFUL DEGRADATION Of Felix
He had no sense of justice - he thought if he held on to Paul his friends may pay money to get him released - "WHEREFORE he sent for him the oftener" (v26)- no trembling now - had he crossed the line ?
Unsaved friend, what have you to gain from holding on to your sin ? What will be the outcome of your concern ? Will you choose wisely ?
God grant that you will. Amen
