Chapter 19 began with a great celebration in heaven over the destruction of Babylon on earth, which had taken place in chapters 17 and 18. The command that had been given in 18:20, was obeyed by those in heaven as they rejoiced over Babylon, because God had pronounced judgment for them against her. God was praised (vv.1-8), Believers were privileged (vv.9-10) and now we examine how Unbelievers are punished, with the focus being on the Judge of the whole universe (vv.11-16). He alone is reliable and real, as He righteously sentences unbelievers and makes war with them. John describes the amazing physical features of Christ as He comes to forever rule the nations with a rod of iron. He alone is the rightful King of kings and Lord of lords.
