Has all of this doctrine that the Galatians have been taught . . . convicted them? Have they been changed? Asked a bit more basically, "What was the desire of the Galatians?" That seems to be the underlying question here in this passage. Do they desire to serve the One living and true God? Or do they desire to serve themselves? All of Paul's doctrinal statements, the argumentation, then comes to this point: Do you desire to serve God, or serve self? What is your heart’s desire? That which one sows . . . will necessarily indicate what is upon one’s heart. That which is sown, necessarily displays the inner desire of each man’s heart. And . . . your desire has consequences. This passage then describes for the reader that the desires of our hearts flow out in our thoughts toward God, and in our actions toward our neighbors.
