n these chapters we see the Davidic kingdom finally established, and as events unfold we observe the ugliness of sin manifested in two areas 1. A Failure to Acknowledge God - though David inquires of the Lord none of the other main characters in the history do, making decisions without any reference to the Lord. Believers ought to seek the face of God in decision making. 2. A Failure to Obey God - following in the footsteps of Cain, people like Joab disregard the commands of God and consider human life to be cheap. Murder becomes commonplace. We too live in a culture of death in North America. All of this makes us thankful for the purpose for which the Davidic kingdom was established, the coming of the great Davidic King.
