Aim: To love and serve the triune God, the maker of all things.
Doctrine: The Lord, the maker of all things, is supreme over everything. He crushes idols and their creators, and He raises humbled souls in His grace.
Exegesis: How the maker of all things governs His universe: He allows Himself to be compared to worthless things (vv. 15-19); He employs sinners to accomplish His ends (vv. 20-23); He saves His church from mighty foes (vv. 24-26).
Further application: What we are to learn from our Creator's ways: God is much more patient with sinners than we would be, and God is much more abundant in goodness than we can imagine.
Key verse: v. 19 ''The Portion of Jacob is not like them, for He is the Maker of all things; and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance. The LORD of hosts is His name.''
