We find ourselves again this morning in the sermon series The Worship That Pleases God, and we will continue the new section indicated above. Having considered the element of sacred song, I want to explore the related element of sacred music. As I said last time, this sermon is extremely critical in the development of our series because of the incredible influence of what has become known as contemporary Christian worship, which is now “gospel” in most churches. I hope to draw your attention to the relationship between sacred music and the principles of sacred song I have already presented. But the bulk of the sermon will be devoted to the right use of sacred music. Since the New Testament is silent on the matter of music in worship, we will have to draw on some sanctified common sense principles based upon God's revelation. May the Lord will be pleased to grant us a great measure of spiritual discernment and heavenly wisdom.
