In this second message on the practice of "Speaking in Tongues", we will look at the legitimate, Biblical practice of speaking in tongues during this Transition and compare that to what we see in today's "Signs and Wonders", Pentecostal and Charismatic churches.
Certain spiritual gifts, such as speaking in tongues, revelation and doctrine, etc., were still in operation at the time that Paul addressed the Church in Corinth because the New Testament was, obviously, still being written.
We will see the the purpose (as we studied in the first message) no longer existed once the Church was established and spread throughout the world by 100 AD.
And we will see that the practice (as we discuss in this message) ceased once the New Testament was complete and God no longer needed to give such tongues, revelation and doctrine as it was complete and perfect in His Book.

Great Sermon! As I understand the gift of tongues, it was given to the diciples for the purpose of ministering to people in their own language. In this day and age that gift is not necessary. When missionaries go to foreign fields they take classes in the language of the country they are to minister in. I would imagine if the gift of tongues was for today, those classes would not be necessary. And as I understand the gift, as it is being used today, it is for self edification, not to minister to others in their own language. This was a wonderful, informative message on the tongue movement. God bless you, Pastor Greg, as you bring us the truth from God's Word.
