This message considers what actually increases our love for each other and for God. Love is spoken of in two different ways. First is the love we have for what benefits us, such as certain foods, homes and so on. The second is where we feel a strong emotional bond, such as for a family member. In this case if the love is strong enough it will change our motives. An example may be shopping for Christmas presents which will become an opportunity to express our love rather than just fulfilling a duty or impressing with a gift. It changes the same action from an obligation into a pleasure. This is the love that Jesus spoke of when He said "If ye love me keep my commandments". The problem is how to increase our love to the point that obeying is not just routine but is exciting for us and a real pleasure for God.
