There comes a point in time where we must come to both understand and accept the fact that our freedom should not be abused. While we have free will we can easily take it too far and fall into a very dangerous trap. A trap that runs parallel to what these magicians were doing. While they were outright in rebellion against God if we start following their path we too will be in open rebellion. What these magicians were doing was wasting precious water. With all the water that had just been turned into blood they couldn't afford to turn even more into blood themselves and yet they did. What they were doing was an attempt to fool Pharaoh into thinking they were big time, though the greater miracle would have been to turn the blood back into water. These guys were busy flaunting their power in the face of Moses and Aaron to show that they too had something special. Really what they were doing was fooling themselves and fouling the way for those who were following them by wasting their resources.
