Have you ever seen a Christian try to witness using an evangelistic approach of focusing on the conscious “felt” needs of people – loneliness, lack of love, hurt, discouragement, marriage problem – and presenting Jesus as the supplier of their desires. “If you have problems or needs and have tried everything else, try Jesus!” Although this approach contains elements of the truth, it is totally inadequate and man-centered. Often the deep sinful nature of their selfishness is never addressed. Well-meaning Christians dilute the gospel into a bandage for surface wounds and medicine for selfish wishes. The deeper need of reconciliation with their Maker on his terms of unconditional surrender is omitted. No matter what method you use for sharing the Gospel, it is absolutely essential that the message of the Gospel is clearly communicated. So, what is the Gospel?
