'In the early days of the American colonies, it used to be said that you would know a Baptist when you passed him on the street, because he would give you a Gospel tract and tell you about Jesus! Does God want us silent about the Gospel? And what about sin and the moral issues of the day? People are living carelessly today, because, as in the land of Laish, few are lifting up their voices to make them ashamed about anything (Judges 18:7). There are some reasons why so many preachers are silent today. The Bible teaches that when we lack God's wisdom, we will be effeminate, cowardly, and silent in the gate. It is high time to awake, spare not, and shout from the housetops. Paul regularly rebuked idolatry, openly, though the entire economy at the time was founded upon it. How different he was compared to many modern preachers! Let this sermon exhort you to trust God and take a stand for truth and holiness in the gate!'
