The last chapter of Ruth introduces us to the nearer kinsman than Boaz who wants to purchase the land but can not redeem the family by marrying Ruth and raising an heir to Elimelech and Mahlin so Boaz becomes the one with the right to redeem and they have a son named Obed who becomes the grandfather of David. The nearer kinsman is a type of the law which can redeem the property and satisfy God's requirements but cannot bring life back to the dead. Boaz not only redeems all that is Ruth's but also all that would belong to her sister-in-law Orpah but she chose not to follow Naomi and come to God's Promised Land.
