Chapters 17 and 18 are an explanation of specific details describing God's full wrath being poured out on Babylon. One of the seven angels with the seven bowls tells John to come see the exhibit of the women sitting upon many waters, as she is judged. She is the harlot who has willingly led the rulers of the earth into gross immorality. She is shown sitting upon a scarlet beast that is full of blasphemous names and who has seven heads and ten horns. This picture reveals the beast as being seven historical empires (17:9-10) as well as ten current kings at the time who work simultaneously with the great harlot in the last days (17:12). She is extremely wealthy and extremely immoral. She has hated the people of God and is unrestrained in her slaughter, for centuries she has aggressively killed them.
