We are set apart between the natural life and spiritual life. The river presented a barrier to the Israelites receiving what almighty God had promised them. It symbolizes anything that separates us from God's promises. It represents the enemies of salvation: Satan & those whom he controls. It is a picture of doubt, sin, and fleshly desires that separate us from our Creator & His promises for His people. When confronted by anything that seems to be an impossible barrier, turn to your Creator in faith. Trust He can make the way clear through the blockage. He loves to swoop into situations that seem impossible. He positively enjoys making a way when none seems possible. And He loves receiving your praises!
