“ Learning From Scripture ” Todd did an admiral job with this subject matter. I always thought it meant that you should have no material debt. That you should be a good steward of what God has provided. Todd expands on this and explains some very significant points. This lends itself to a greater understanding & drawing closer to God.
Todd points out & explains that this particular passage deals more specifically with pay what you owe outside of money. If someone deserves respect, pay it, etc. A more universal explanation.
He also talks about the Lord washing feet. He explains that the point of that was symbolic for us. In this world, as we walk through it, our feet get dirty. Contact with this world dirties us. By listening to the Word of God, our feet get washed & we are clean. Everyday it must be done again. Very enlightening.
He also points out about preaching and what it truly is. Preaching in & of itself is equivalent to one beggar telling another beggar where he got bread. I saw the truth of that.
