We continue our study of Colossians 2:6-15. Today our notes are longer than usual for our passage must not only be explained, but we felt the need also to address the errant practice of infant baptism, that is often argued from this passage. Now I have many dear friends and “partners” in the gospel that hold and practice infant baptism, and I have the highest regard for them and for the many that have held to this practice through church history. But I believe that the practice is not biblical, but rather a remnant of Roman Catholic theology and practice that was retained by many of the Reformers. I believe Baptists are, as C. H. Spurgeon referred to them, the “Thorough reformers.”
