Unless we are willing to dismiss the benedictions, with which Paul closes his epistles, as simply perfunctory courtesies we must recognize that they are instructive. Among the lessons bound up in them is what ought to be the nature of our disposition to others in the church. This is the first of two messages focused upon the benediction of II Corinthians 11:14. Towards a church which had many problems and had within its ranks some who had turned on him, Paul manifested a magnanimous, solicitous heart as evidenced by the most comprehensive of all of his benedictions.. This message is largely focused upon the summary imperatives of verse 11 which begin the conclusion to the letter, a conclusion which ends with the trinitarian benediction.
