Jesus Leads His People Through Crisis Because Jesus loves His people, He faithfully leads them through crisis. He confronts their impetuosity (36-38) Peter questions where Jesus is going (36) Peter questions why he can't follow Him (37a) Peter promises to die for Him (37b) Jesus prophesies Peter's denials (38) He comforts their troubled hearts (1-3) Commands: Believe in God, believe also in Me (1) Promise: Jesus is going to prepare a place for His disciples (2) Promise: Jesus will come to take His disciples to Himself (3) He clarifies His exclusivity (4-7) Thomas questions how to know “the way” (4-5) Jesus proclaims Himself as “the Way, the Truth, the Life” (6) Jesus identifies Himself with the Father (7) Applications Unbelievers: Believe in Jesus as the Christ, the only Son of God, and so believing have life in His name. He is the ONLY Way, Truth, and Life. Believers: Confront your own impetuosity—count the cost and follow Jesus fully! Let not your heart be troubled—believe in the One went to prepare a place for you, and who will come again to receive you to Himself!
