Like the despair of the Sixth Seal, the death and despair of the Sixth Trumpet could cause discouragement in John and his readers (and us). So in both the Seals and the Trumpets, God graciously gives an interlude before the Seventh and final judgment, to comfort and assure the Christian in time of tribulation, and to encourage and exhort the Church to go forth with the Gospel at the same time.
In the first of two parts of the Trumpets' interlude, John (and we) is given confidence in Christ and a re-commission to be His servant and mouthpiece. So should we.
